Does religion count?

Recently I have been thinking about the presidency. In particular, the presidents religion. Does it matter what religion the candidate abides by. In other words if a witch was running for president (and no O'Donnell is not running) would you be voting for her? When we look at the current options we see, Evangelicals, Catholics, and Mormons. Would I decide based on religion? yes. I believe that a man is to have character, strong moral character, in order to enter office. If a man has a strong moral character, he will put God before anything else. His religion is first. If this is not the case then he does not have the criteria of a good president. That being said, what would happen if the religion of the president requires him to act contrary to the constituion. Religion definetly plays a big role in the actions of a president. A Catholic, for example, owes alligence to the Holy See. Bless their hearts, I want the president to be bound by the constitution. There have been many great Catholic polititions, but it definetly should be a source of concern. Religion does count. Religion can really shape the outcome of the administration.
